|
Being a real estate agent is a lot like being a parent. To be really good at it, it?s a full-time no-holds-barred commitment.
I?m a city girl. A ?downtown? Chicagoan for 25 years is how I still describe myself. I was involved in the world of trading on the Chicago Board of Trade and Options Exchange. I took my work seriously, and even took it home. I married an Options trader in 1980.
Terry and I were blessed with daughters in 1981 and 1982. Eve, always an honor student, is midway through American University?s law school and works part-time in DC in the State Department?s International Law Division. Claire, also a bright one, is working in marketing while pursuing a career in lobbying in Denver. They both are with the loves of their lives and have become my best friends.
Our son Alex, 17, is a junior at Park City High. He has made the competitive PC Golf Team twice, works in property management and also competes for the National Sports Foundation as a Nordic ski jumper (the crazy ones who throw themselves off the mountain). He?s been our gift every day of his life.
These children have always been the focus of my life so I have managed to be creative around their needs. For many years I ran my own successful dessert catering business, Good Ideas, supplying and creating desserts for several Park City restaurants. But I?m a people person and the kitchen is a solitary environment and I needed to get out of it. In 1998 I received an associate degree in design from the Floral Design Institute in Portland. I still garden and enjoy designing. I rescued a friend?s scheduling nightmare one afternoon at a gallery on historic Main Street. I stayed six years. Sales and people are my true niche. The gallery work was wonderful and I was able to fit my time there around the needs of my family.
The girls are now women, my son an independent athlete and scholar. I can now fit them around my career.
I?m delighted to be able to use all my varied skills in the real estate world. Parenting is full-time and not for sissies. It is listening, networking, diplomacy, support and creativity. I?m certainly not going to parent you, but I am going to always look for the best situation for you, whether as a buyer or seller. I?m going to seek out and give you the best advice, the best deals, and I?m going to help you avoid any negative situations.
I?ll always be a downtown girl at heart, but in the past 11 years of living here in beautiful Park City I was able to raise three amazing kids in an amazing town ? and I got out of the kitchen. I look forward to easing your relocation and introducing you to this wonderful community.
